River Biographies

Älvarnas biografier is a meditative audio work for up to forty people, created by artist duo Lundahl & Seitl (Christer Lundahl and Martina Seitl). Wearing headphones and following simple movement instructions, participants together recreate the flow of water - from source to sea - in a shared choreography that each person interprets according to their own ability.

The work exists at the intersection of choreography, sound art, and nature experience, with each performance shaped by the location, the participants, and the waterways nearby. Performance length: 50 minutes. During the Riksteatern tour, the work is performed in Swedish.

Riksteatern in collaboration with Lundahl & Seitl. River Biographies was originally created in partnership with Liljevalchs Konsthall and West Bund Museum together with Chronus Art Center, Shanghai (CN), and Riksteatern. Research partner: Southbank Centre, London (UK). Supported by IASPIS - the Swedish Arts Council's international programme for visual and applied art, and the Swedish Cultural Council.
