CANCER DANCE
Choreographer Nadja Hjorton has created a solo that moves from the intimate to the grand. CANCER DANCE is her own story - about what happened when she turned 40, became a theatre director, and received a breast cancer diagnosis.
The performance begins with a changing body, with fear, loss of control, and cells running wild. But also with everything that continued to exist: her children, friends, TikTok dances in the living room, and unexpected moments of joy amid the chaos. Neither a tearjerker nor a heroic saga - it is the performance Nadja herself would have wanted to see when she was ill, delivered with dark humour, physicality, and warmth.
Music by artist and composer Britta Persson. Costume and mask by Daniel Åkerström Steen, scenography by Chrisander Brun - created to portray the body's inner world in a playful and surrealist way. Dance dramaturg: Maryam Nikandish. Performance length: 1 hour.
A production by Riksteatern.
