Phantom of the Everyday

A living room stands at the center. Doors and windows can open at any moment to let in so-called ordinary people - with their peculiar habits, manners, and behaviors. Scenes of everyday life and celebration alternate, and everyone seems to strive for the same thing: to be normal. It goes so-so.
The performance is inspired by Luis Buñuel's film The Phantom of Liberty, but here the gaze is directed not toward freedom but toward the everyday. What happens to us when we constantly see ourselves reflected in others' eyes? When normality becomes a project? Finnish playwright and director Saara Turunen creates a melodic stage collage where absurdity and melancholy go hand in hand - with much humor, a touch of sadness, and a warm eye for life's peculiarities.
The performance is in Finnish with subtitles in Finnish and Swedish. Duration: 1 hour 40 minutes.
