SKOGEN
Martin Hederos and Elin Anna Labba collaborate in a performance where her texts and his music interweave, supported by musicians from Sweden and around the world. The show is a collaboration with Norrbotten World.
Hederos is known as the founder of Soundtrack of Our Lives, a member of Tonbruket, and a songwriter who has worked with Anna Ternheim, Weeping Willows, Ane Brun, Sofia Karlsson, and Ulf Lundell, among others. Labba is an award-winning Sámi author and journalist from Jukkasjärvi - she won the August Prize for her debut "Herrarna satte oss hit" (2020), which addresses the forced displacement of Sámi people in Sweden in the early 20th century, and in 2024 she published her debut novel "Far inte till havet".
In the performance, Labba reads a newly written poetic narrative about a small boy who melts as the climate warms. "It's a kind of poetic tale, though it's not a tale at all. It's about children and climate with a very real backdrop here in the north, where the climate crisis is most visible," she says. Hederos' music drapes itself over the narrative like a veil - "music inspired by her poetry, but it won't be poetry reading with jazz interludes. Instead, I hope for and believe in a total feeling, where we can meet," he says.
