Sugar and Global Trade in Brunnsparken — Göteborgs stadsmuseum, Gothenburg

What can a diary from 1836 tell us about Gothenburg's colonial history - and what does sugar have to do with it? Through Marie Grén's nearly 200-year-old notes, we gain insight into people's relationship with sugar during the 19th century. During the city walk, we explore Brunnsparken's connection to sugar and global trade.

This activity is a collaboration with the Sugar Walks project, developed by Cecilia Lagerström and Monica Sand at the University of Gothenburg. Another walk on the same theme takes place on 3 September from 5-6 pm.

Meeting point is the museum foyer; the walk ends in Brunnsparken. Places are limited - book via the link and arrive at least 5 minutes before the start, otherwise your place may be released. Unbooked places are released until the walk begins. The activity is included in the museum's entrance ticket. Cancellations are made via bokningar.stadsmuseet@kultur.goteborg.se.

We use sound amplification equipment and move through public spaces. Traffic, loud noises, pavement edges and cobblestones may be present.
