Colonial History and Sugar - from Franska tomten to Sillgatan
Göteborgs stadsmuseum, Gothenburg
Ingår i museets entrébiljett. Fri entré för alla under 20 år
What can a diary from 1836 reveal about Gothenburg's colonial history - and what does sugar have to do with it? Through Marie Grén's nearly 200-year-old notes, we gain insight into people's relationship with sugar during the 19th century. The walk moves between Franska tomten and Marie Grén's former home at Sillgatan 24.
This activity is a collaboration with the Sockervandringar project, developed by Cecilia Lagerström and Monica Sand at the University of Gothenburg. Another walk on the same theme is offered on 3 September from 3-4 pm.
Gathering takes place in the museum foyer; the tour ends at Postgatan 24. Places are limited - book via the link. Arrive at least 5 minutes before start, otherwise your place may be released if there is a queue. Unbooked places are released until the tour begins. The activity is included in the museum's entrance ticket. If you need to cancel, contact bookings.stadsmuseet@kultur.goteborg.se
We use sound amplification equipment and move in public spaces. Traffic, loud noises, pavement edges and cobblestones may be present.
