Queer Wednesday: Dangerous Words and Free Voices
Göteborgs stadsmuseum, Gothenburg
Ingår i entrébiljett. Fri entré för alla under 20 år
Throughout the 20th century, more and more interest magazines gave voice to different groups in society. Some of them pushed freedom of expression to its limits - content that today would be considered pure hate propaganda. At the same time, associations and gathering places emerged that gave rise to publications responding to these voices.
RFSL was founded in Sweden in 1950 and opened a space to discuss what society considered inappropriate or even forbidden. The evening draws on RFSL's member magazine Följeslagaren, the sole issue of Fjollan by Röda Bögar, and the extreme publication Vidi - and traces the winding path toward a freer climate of dialogue.
The programme combines lecture and workshop. The group will also examine an object related to the topic in one of the museum's exhibitions, and during the workshop participants will work with different forms of expression to convey norm-breaking messages.
The evening is included in the museum's admission ticket. Places are limited - book via the link and arrive at least 5 minutes before start, otherwise your place may be released if there is a queue. Cancellations are made via bokningar.stadsmuseet@kultur.goteborg.se. If you need a sign language interpreter, contact stadsmuseum@kultur.goteborg.se at least 14 days in advance.
