Carnival Fever
Göteborgs stadsmuseum, Gothenburg
Gothenburg City Museum fills its spaces with workshops, lectures, and DIY spirit - inspired by Gothenburg Carnival. The day is organized by members of the former Carnival Association in collaboration with the museum.
Between 1984 and 1992, Gothenburg's streets transformed into enormous dance floors, with thousands of people in costumes dancing to music and rhythms from around the world. Behind the celebration stood the Gothenburg Carnival Association. Throughout the day, the book "Göteborgs Karneval: Från kultur till urkult" is also celebrated, which tells how it all began and contains photographs, interviews, and posters.
Workshops - drop-in 11.00-16.00
Göteborg Cosplay Guild showcases their costumes and inspires anyone who wants to create their own. In the costume workshop, we build costumes from simple everyday materials - some materials are available on-site, but you're welcome to bring cardboard, plastic sheets, or pool noodles from home. There's also a face and body makeup workshop where experienced makeup artists guide you, plus a pop-up photo studio where a photographer captures your temporary appearance.
