Electric Guitar Through Fire and Water

An orchestra and electric guitar concert featuring guitarist virtuoso Magnus Andersson as soloist. Composer Ming Tsao, from the USA and formerly active in Göteborg, dissolves the symphonic form in his music and guides the listener into a freer space. The Göteborg Symphony Orchestra performs the premiere of his Geisterkonzert.

After the interval comes John Williams' film music from Star Wars, performed with live orchestra in Stora salen. The evening opens with Aaron Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man.

The programme concludes with the suite from The Firebird. Igor Stravinsky composed the ballet in 1910, blending orchestral virtuosity with Russian folk music and legend - the story of the evil Kashchei, the imprisoned princesses, and the Firebird who ultimately sets them free.

An hour before the concert, an introduction is held in Stora salen, lasting approximately 30 minutes with free seating. The introduction is included in the ticket price.
