Fashion Show - 19th-Century Clothing and Queen Victoria's Favorite Cake — Nääs Slott, Gothenburg

Behind every garment from the 1800s lies a story of power, identity, and social change - and these are precisely the stories that Anette Sörgren, a dressmaker and housewife in the Svenska 1800-talssällskapet, explores during this afternoon at Nääs Slott.

Six models wear clothing from different periods of the century while Anette explains why the female silhouette changed so dramatically, what a garment could reveal about the wearer's economic status and social standing, and how the era's intellectual currents were reflected in what people wore.

The afternoon includes coffee or tea with Queen Victoria's favorite cake, and there will be plenty of time for questions. Those interested can also book a separate castle tour in connection with the event - tickets for that are purchased separately.
