Automata akrobata
Fri entré!
On the planet Tellus, a very long time has passed. Three odd space travellers have just landed - or perhaps crashed - in a heap of strange wooden objects. The wooden pieces ask questions and provide answers: what did our ancestors on the great blue sphere actually use their hands for? Why did humanity stop exerting their bodies? What improved by letting machines take over the brain's work and creativity?
An ancient treadle wheel and wooden mechanics with gears, cranks and unexpected transmissions invite playful acrobatics, humour and working hands. Crafts, spinning sticks and spinning acrobats in a cloud of flying confetti - these are some of the ingredients in Automata Akrobata, a festive future fantasy with ancient craftsmanship and contemporary circus for all ages.
The performance is part of the Southern Sweden Circus Festival, which runs from 29 August to 12 September and visits 10 locations in Skåne. The full programme and more information can be found on the Cirkus Syd website. The festival is run by Cirkus Syd in collaboration with Lund Municipality and with support from Region Skåne, Visit Skåne, Kulturnämnden, the Konstnärsrådet international circus programme and the EU. Arenaslöjd's participation is a collaboration between Riksteaterns Skåne and Cirkus Syd.
