Ester & John Bauer - A Unique Musical Theatre

The Bauer Quartet sings and performs in this musical theatre production, featuring among others Lisa Bauer, whose grandmother is the daughter of John Bauer's brother Hjalmar Bauer - the man who taught John to draw as a child.

The production centres on Ester and John Bauer as modern people in an unmodern age around the turn of the 20th century. Ester becomes his muse and inspires, among other works, the classic Bauer princess Tuvstarr. She is herself a talented artist, trained at the Academy of Fine Arts. Through their letters and music, the production portrays joy and despair, Småland forests and the art worlds of great cities, creative passion and profound doubt, exhausting quarrels and passionate love.
