Women's Lives in Stockholm during Sweden's Great Power Era

This walking tour takes you to 1600s Stockholm and introduces you to some of the women who inhabited the city - servants and boatmen's wives, noblewomen and widows, writers and countesses.

What did they do, and what opportunities did they have to make their voices heard in an era when women were expected to stay in the background? The route descends from the heights of Söder through the narrow lanes of Gamla Stan.
