…why do you hold back?
Röda Sten konsthall, Gothenburg
The exhibition spans all floors of Röda Sten Konsthall, engaging with the building's industrial architecture and its historical connection to sugar production in the area.
Through sculpture, video, sound, and monumental reliefs, Doruntina Kastrati explores the relationship between body, machine, and labour. Materials and narratives are drawn from confectionery manufacturing and examine how repetitive movements and long working days shape the body and human experience. Most works have been created specifically for Röda Sten Konsthall.
Kastrati represented Kosovo at the Venice Biennale 2024 and received an honourable mention for the exhibition The Echoing Silences of Metal and Skin. The exhibition is curated by Amila Puzić.
