I list & lust

Two short comic baroque operas from the 18th century make up the evening - Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's "La serva padrona" and Georg Philipp Telemann's "Pimpinone". Both tell of servant girls who scheme their way up the social ladder, and questions about love, power and work prove to be just as relevant now as they were 300 years ago.

Malmö Opera has modernized and adapted the production for touring, blending baroque music with more contemporary elements. The texts have been translated and arranged by Carin Bartosch Edström, with direction by Helena Röhr and conductor Annika Bjelk.

Serpina is performed by Kristine Nowlain, Pimpinone by Jakob Högström and Vespone by Fredric Thurfjell. The orchestra features Annika Bjelk (piano), Fredric Thurfjell (saxophone) and Elina Nygren (viola). Set design, costumes and makeup are by Evelina Johansson, lighting design by Sofia Linde and Hannele Philipson.
