Forum for Poetry and Prose - 4 November

This evening features Klas Östergren, Birgitta Lillpers, Soraya Bay and Isak Holmgren.

Klas Östergren made his debut in 1975 with the novel Attilla and achieved breakthrough success with Gentlemen (1980) - a novel about a young man's passage into adulthood and his friendship with the Morgan brothers. Since then, he has built a broad literary career, from the restrained narratives of the Eastern Europe trilogy to screenplays for film and television. Birgitta Lillpers, resident of Orsa, debuted in 1982 with the poetry collection Stämnoja and has since published both novels and poetry. Her latest poetry collection Kälda was awarded Sveriges Radio's Lyric Prize in 2021.

Soraya Bay was born in 1994 and made her debut in spring with the novella collection Ymnighetshornet, where contemporary questions about class and capital are depicted in densely written snapshots. Isak Holmgren also debuted in spring with the novel Oskar Hemlings usla nöjen - a frame narrative about a manuscript left by a deceased author, and his friend John Weibull's attempt to publish the scattered text collection.
