Concert: VÄSEN

VÄSEN - Mikael Marin and Olov Johansson perform two concerts in Bror Hjorth's studio.

Concert 1: Starts 18.00 (doors 17.40).
Concert 2: Starts 20.00 (doors 19.40).

NOTE: No entry outside these times.

After over 40 years of intense collaboration and touring, Mikael Marin and Olov Johansson have refined their sound and stage presence into something difficult to compare with anything else. The music is intense, dynamic, and full of humour - a distinctive musical language rooted in Uppland's folk fiddling tradition yet oriented toward new musical horizons.

On their latest album Vågor, released in October 2025, water is the central theme: some islands, a small bay, a mill, someone swimming against the current. The rhythmic interplay between nyckelharpa and viola da gamba has deepened, and several tracks mark a clear step toward something new. The year before, in 2024, they received both a Grammis award and the Manifest Prize for their collaborative album Väsen & Hawktail.

Olov Johansson - nyckelharpa
Mikael Marin - viola and viola da gamba
