Lecturer Magnus Persson from Linnaeus University discusses what makes the Middle East a conflict-ridden region. The new political conditions and great-power influence that followed the First World War laid the foundation for many of today's tensions - the Palestinian conflict and the contradictions in the Persian Gulf serve as concrete examples.
