Astronomy Day and Night

Astronomy Day and Night 2026 at Västervik Museum! Between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., visitors can listen to lectures, visit a mini-exhibition and guided tour, and discuss astronomy with GAF.

At 3 p.m., Dan Ohlsson will give a lecture titled "Why and How Do We Build a Spacecraft?" - exploring why and how instruments are developed for the space environment, from fundamental challenges to practical solutions. Dan Ohlsson is a research engineer at the Institute of Space Physics (IRF) with a background as a civil engineer in space electronics. He works as a systems engineer, project manager, and head of the technical team in Uppsala, and has contributed to ESA's JUICE and Comet Interceptor missions.
