Autofiction
Director: Pedro Almodóvar, Spain, 2026
After her mother's death, advertising filmmaker Elsa throws herself into work to cope with grief. When migraines force her to take a break, she flies to Lanzarote for a long weekend in 2004 with her friend Patricia, while her boyfriend Bonifacio - a stripper and firefighter - stays behind in Madrid. On the island, she begins exploring her close friends' personal suffering in an attempt to resume her writing.
In a parallel present-day timeline, filmmaker Raúl works on a screenplay that turns out to be the story of Elsa - his alter ego. Raúl uses autofiction to overcome creative block, letting his own life, his boyfriend Santi, and his assistant Mónica color the narrative.
Film curator Véronique Dubois-Côté presents the film. Suitable for children.
