Boundless with Gageego!

The ensemble Gageego! explores the meeting of science and art in works by Britta Byström, Jesper Nordin, and Anna Thorvaldsdottir.

Multi-award-winning Britta Byström has set to music the poet Inger Christensen's poetry collection Alfabet. The poems follow the Fibonacci sequence - the lines grow progressively longer according to a set growth rate - and in the same way, the phrases in Byström's music expand. What drove her was how nature's beauty in details becomes an incantation against all that threatens it. Soprano is Alexandra Büchel and conductor Fredrik Burstedt.

Anna Thorvaldsdottir's Entropic Arrows shares the same connection between science and art: the music attempts to mirror the physical world. Jesper Nordin's Surfaces Scintillantes takes an almost opposite starting point - what is heard on the surface is, according to the composer, simply the raw material. He created the piece with the help of a digital drawing tablet.
