Dislocated - Tilda Lundbohm — Konstepidemin, Gothenburg
Description was written before the event

Casts of hands and feet in transparent sugar raise questions about vulnerability, illness, care, and the fragility of human life. The sculptures change gradually throughout the exhibition - time and transience become part of the work itself.

Dislocated was first shown in its entirety at SIC in Copenhagen and is now presented at Pannrummet in a new form. To dislocate means to move something from its expected position: a joint displaced from its socket, an alignment disrupted. In the exhibition, Tilda Lundbohm presents a body taken apart and rearranged, where new forms of connection emerge through fragmentation.

Hands and feet grow from bent steel structures, suspended somewhere between movement and stillness. They are cast in isomalt - a transparent sugar-based material traditionally used in pastry-making - and initially resemble glass, but are vulnerable to time: surfaces become opaque, edges soften, and fragments slowly dissolve. The installation does not represent transformation; it performs it.

Lundbohm explores themes of life, death, illness, grief, and trauma. Drawing on her own experiences with psychiatry, loss, violence, and mortality, she uses autobiography as a starting point for broader reflections on vulnerability, memory, and the human condition - with the conviction that the most personal experiences are also the most universal.
