Seijun Suzuki

Seijun Suzuki was a Japanese film director known for his visually flamboyant, often surrealist take on yakuza cinema. Films like Tokyo Drifter (1966) and Branded to Kill (1967) pushed so far against Nikkatsu studio norms that he was fired. He was later rehabilitated and kept directing well into the 2000s.
