About

Carola Häggkvist, known simply as Carola, is a Swedish pop and schlager singer born in Stockholm on 8 September 1966. She broke through in 1983 with "Främling" - an album that sold around one million copies and remains the best-selling debut in Swedish music history - and went on to win the Eurovision Song Contest in 1991 with "Fångad av en stormvind". Over four decades she has released 19 studio albums spanning pop, gospel and folk, earned the Guldmasken award for her role as Maria in "The Sound of Music", and is widely regarded as Sweden's most prominent female artist.
