About

DJ Krush (born Hideaki Ishii, Tokyo, 1962) is a Japanese DJ and producer widely credited with putting Japanese hip-hop on the international map. His work on the London trip-hop label Mo'Wax in the mid-1990s - above all the album Meiso (1995) - brought him a global audience, and he has since built a catalog of over a dozen albums that blend heavy breakbeats, jazz and soul samples, and elements drawn from traditional Japanese music.
