Terje Isungset and his Ice Quartet perform music on ice harp, ice horn and other instruments made of ice - a unique concert where each performance becomes its own event.
Ice Quartet is a Norwegian ensemble led by percussionist and composer Terje Isungset, who pioneered the concept of ice music in 1999. The group performs on instruments carved from natural frozen ice - ice harp, ice bass, ice horns and iceofone - alongside voice and electronics. Isungset has toured the concept across Canada, Japan, Russia, the USA and throughout Europe, and since 2006 has run the annual Ice Music Festival Norway. CNN has called him "the world's first and only ice musician."
