Joe Hisaishi (born Mamoru Fujisawa, 1950) is a Japanese composer, conductor and pianist with over 100 film scores to his name, best known for his decades-long partnership with director Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli. His scores for films such as My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away have made him one of the most recognised composers in the world. Beyond film, he writes concert works - three symphonies, concertos and chamber pieces - and conducts major orchestras from Vienna to Chicago. Since 2023 he has been an exclusive Deutsche Grammophon artist.

    Deutsche Grammophon released Hisaishi's Symphony No. 3 'Metaphysica' and Harp Concerto on 24 July 2026.

    Hisaishi launched a 2026 world tour spanning over 40 concerts across the USA, Canada, Japan, France, the Netherlands, UK, Germany and Switzerland.

    Hisaishi signed with publisher Boosey & Hawkes and performed his vocal-orchestral suite The End of the World at the BBC Proms on 14 August 2025.
