About

José González (born 1978 in Gothenburg) is a Swedish indie folk singer-songwriter and guitarist of Argentine descent, whose parents fled the 1976 military coup and were granted asylum in Sweden. His 2003 debut album Veneer - and in particular his acoustic cover of The Knife's 'Heartbeats' - brought him international recognition, and he has since released five solo studio albums while also performing as part of the duo Junip. González is known for his fingerpicked classical guitar style, hushed vocals, and lyrics that engage with humanism, philosophy and ethics.
