About

Merit Hemmingson (born 1940 in Jämtland) is a Swedish organist, composer and singer who built her reputation by fusing Hammond B3 organ with Swedish folk music, jazz and groove rock. Her early-1970s trilogy - Huvva! (1971), Trollskog (1972) and Bergtagen (1973) - all went gold and are now considered classics of Swedish music history. She was inducted into the Swedish Music Hall of Fame in 2017 and has received the Gannevik Scholarship, the Jan Johansson Award and the royal medal Litteris et Artibus.
