Mieko Kawakami is a Japanese novelist born in 1976 in Osaka. She broke through internationally with "Breasts and Eggs" and has since become one of Japan's most prominent contemporary writers. Her novel "Heaven" was shortlisted for the International Booker Prize in 2022.
