Otello is a four-act opera by Giuseppe Verdi, premiered in Milan in 1887. The libretto by Arrigo Boito follows Shakespeare's tragedy of the Moorish general driven to jealousy and ruin. It is widely regarded as one of Verdi's most dramatically intense works.
