Petter (born Petter Alexis Askergren, 25 May 1974) is a Stockholm rapper who broke Swedish hip-hop into the mainstream with his 1998 debut Mitt sjätte sinne - the album that set off the late-1990s Swedish rap boom. His 1999 follow-up Bananrepubliken hit number one and remains a landmark of the genre. He was inducted into the Swedish Music Hall of Fame in 2022, and has stayed active as a recording artist, label founder, author and public speaker.
Petter announced his forthcoming album Bar Nimes, due autumn 2026, produced entirely with Elias Kapari; the single 'Sparat bilder' was released on 8 May 2026 as a preview.
Petter performed four sold-out concerts with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra at Berwaldhallen in Stockholm in January 2026, conducted by Hans Ek.
Petter launched the foundation Kul på vägen in 2026, which annually awards three grants of 50,000 SEK each in the areas of culture, health and entrepreneurship.
Petter released the four-track EP Petter med Getter on 24 April 2025 via BABA Recordings, featuring collaborations with Imenella, ADAAM, BELL and B.Baby.
Petter was inducted into the Swedish Music Hall of Fame in 2022.
