The Halo Effect is a Swedish melodic death metal band formed in Gothenburg in 2019 by five former members of In Flames - guitarist Jesper Strömblad, guitarist Niclas Engelin, bassist Peter Iwers, drummer Daniel Svensson, and vocalist Mikael Stanne (also of Dark Tranquillity). Their debut album Days of the Lost (2022) hit number one in Sweden - reportedly the first debut by a metal act ever to top the Swedish chart in its opening week - and the follow-up March of the Unheard arrived in January 2025 via Nuclear Blast.
The Halo Effect released a new single 'Lest We Fall' in February 2026.
The band released the covers EP We Are Shadows on 21 November 2025 via Nuclear Blast, featuring five songs each chosen by a different band member.
The Halo Effect released a cover of W.A.S.P.'s 'I Wanna Be Somebody', handpicked by guitarist Jesper Strömblad, as the third preview single from the upcoming covers EP.
The second album March of the Unheard was released on 10 January 2025 via Nuclear Blast, reaching number 3 in Sweden, number 4 in Germany and Austria, and number 8 in Finland.
The band completed their first-ever European headline tour in January 2025, supported by PAIN and Bloodred Hourglass.
