concertThe Longest Johns
British sea shanty band The Longest Johns perform at Debaser Strand in Stockholm. Known for "Wellerman" and the ShantyTok trend, they deliver traditional maritime songs with commanding vocal harmony.
The Longest Johns are a folk trio from Bristol, England - Andy Yates, Jonathan 'JD' Darley and Robbie Sattin - who have been performing sea shanties and traditional folk songs since 2012. They shot to global fame when their recording of 'Wellerman' went viral on TikTok in early 2021, leading to a deal with Decca Records. Since then they have released six studio albums and toured the UK, Europe, North America and Australia.
The Longest Johns released their new album 'Ends of the Earth' on 1 May 2026, followed by a major tour of the UK, Europe, Canada and the USA.
The band's Pieces of Eight project - eight EPs released monthly from March to October 2025 - was compiled into the 24-track album 'Piece of Eight', released in November 2025.
The Longest Johns completed their debut Australian tour in May 2025, playing Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney.
The band released their fifth studio album 'Voyage' in February 2024, accompanied by a companion book of original stories, artwork and lyrics.
'Voyage' has surpassed 7 million streams on Spotify.
