The World Youth Championships stand out for their mix of participants - world-class athletes and newcomers compete side by side on the same arena.

The competition began in 1996 and has been based at Slottsskogsvallen since 2023. It has grown into the Nordic region's largest arena competition, and over the years athletes such as Carolina Klüft, Daniel Ståhl, Mondo Duplantis and Jakob Ingebrigtsen have competed here before reaching the top of the world stage.
