Grandi voci: Joachim Bäckström

This year's Grandi voci concert features tenor Joachim Bäckström, a distinguished Wagner singer with a strong international career.

The programme moves through music where nature and emotion mirror each other - forests, spring winds and summer nights carrying longing, comfort, love, sorrow and hope. It includes songs such as Peterson-Berger's "Jungfrun under lind", Sibelius' "Säf, säf susa", Alfvén's "Aftonstämning" and "Skogen sover", as well as arias like "Winterstürme" from Wagner's The Valkyrie and Lensky's farewell in Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin.

At Göteborgsoperan, Bäckström has previously sung roles including Peter Grimes, Hoffmann, Don José in Carmen and Francis in Mytomania. In summer 2026 he sang Wagner at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, and after the Grandi voci concert he will perform the role of the Prince in Rusalka in Malmö.
