Göteborgsoperan opened in 1994 on the banks of the Göta älv river. Designed by Jan Izikowitz, the building seats over 1,300 in its main auditorium and hosts opera, ballet and musicals. Its distinctive waterfront facade makes it one of Gothenburg's most recognisable landmarks.
