Spring Night in Vienna

From Mozart's serenade to Korngold's cinematic violin concerto - in spring's grand orchestral concert, three centuries of music connected to Vienna come together.

Mozart's Eine kleine nachtmusik is led by Benjamin Schmid, one of today's most distinguished and versatile violinists. This is followed by some of Franz Schubert's most beloved songs, arranged for chamber orchestra by Max Reger.

The finale is Korngold's violin concerto, with Schmid as soloist. Do you hear echoes of Hollywood? It's no wonder - it was largely Korngold and other refugees from Europe's opera houses and concert halls who laid the foundation for American film music in the 1930s and 1940s.
