The Magic Flute
Thu, 3 Dec 2026 · 19:00 — 21:50
In December, Gothenburg Opera presents The Magic Flute - an opera combining comedy, drama, animation and Mozart's music, created for the whole family.
Pamina, daughter of the Queen of the Night, has been abducted by Sarastro, the Queen's enemy. Prince Tamino falls instantly in love with a portrait of Pamina and sets out to rescue her. With him are the stubborn Papageno, a magic bell and an enchanted flute - but who is truly evil and who is good?
The work contains some of opera's most celebrated melodies: the Queen of the Night's aria, the duet of Papageno and Papagena, and Sarastro's words of wisdom. Opera in two acts by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791), libretto by Emanuel Schikaneder. Swedish translation by Rikard Bergqvist.
