Wicked at GöteborgsOperan
In October 2026, Wicked returns to GöteborgsOperan - the production that was seen by over 110,000 people during its first run and played to packed houses.
The musical tells the story of what happened in the land of Oz before Dorothy arrived, told from the perspective of both witches: how the unlikely friends Elphaba and Galinda found each other, how they became the wicked and good witches, and how they defeated the wizard's tyranny. It is a story about outsiderdom, courage and love, with music by Stephen Schwartz - including the hit "Defying Gravity". Performed in Swedish in a translation by Calle Norlén.
Musical stars Feline Andersson and Anna Salonen return to their breakthrough roles as Elphaba ("the wicked witch of the west") and Galinda. Other roles are played by Vera Veljovic, Max Jansson, Julia Carlström, Oskar H Olsson, Lars Hjertner and David Lundqvist.
The production was directed by Samuel Harjanne and is the largest Wicked production ever, featuring an expanded orchestra, large ensemble and extensive scenic design. Book by Winnie Holzman, based on Gregory Maguire's novel. Originally produced for Broadway by Marc Platt, David Stone and Universal Stage Productions. Presented in agreement with Music Theatre International.
