The Proclaimers
The Proclaimers were formed in the early 1980s by twin brothers Charlie and Craig Reid. Their music spans a wide emotional range - songs marked by honesty, political passion, humour and heart, heard at weddings, funerals and everywhere in between. "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" has become a global anthem of devotion and longing.
"Sunshine on Leith", the title track from the album of the same name, is a signature melody for the Leith district of Edinburgh where the twins grew up, and also serves as the entrance march for Hibernian FC's home matches.
In their blend of pop, folk, new wave and punk, The Proclaimers have carved out their own niche - the political and the personal, the everyday and the universal, side by side. On stage they deliver with the same nerve, anger and warmth as always.
