Jens Lekman - Bryggan
Jens Lekman broke through with his debut album When I Said I Wanted To Be Your Dog in 2004 and quickly became one of Sweden's most acclaimed indie artists, known for his narrative style and clever melodies.
Since the song If You Ever Need a Stranger (To Sing at Your Wedding) came out in 2004, he has received requests from strangers asking him to sing at their weddings - a side gig he has kept going for over twenty years.
In 2020, he created the project Songs from Other People's Weddings together with novelist David Levithan: an album and a novel that intertwined but also found their own paths. The book provided the story's structure, the album sometimes moved behind the scenes, and motifs travelled back and forth between the two.
The result is an exploration of what love songs are really about - euphoria, doubt, tenderness, rootlessness, conflict, longing and belonging. Above all, it is a love song to love songs.
