Anna Lapwood Plays Max Richter
Göteborgs Konserthus, Gothenburg
Organist Anna Lapwood performs with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and children's choir under the direction of André de Ridder in a programme featuring music by Hans Zimmer, Kristina Arakelyan, Max Richter and Saint-Saëns.
The concert opens with Hans Zimmer's film music from The Da Vinci Code and the symphonic suite from Interstellar. Kristina Arakelyan's Toccata, composed for Lapwood, gives the organ a virtuosic and rhythmically driven solo role. Max Richter's Cosmology - also written directly for Lapwood - unfolds in slowly pulsing movements.
The programme concludes with Saint-Saëns' Symphony No. 3, where organ, choir and orchestra meet in one of Romanticism's most monumental works - also known from the film Babe (1995).
The concert is supported by the Stenastiftelsen foundation.
