Summer Concert - Daniel Lemma — Gunnebo slott och trädgårdar, Gothenburg

Daniel Lemma is an Ethiopian-born Swedish musician and singer-songwriter whose music is rooted in an American tradition of roots music, with clear connections to early blues and gospel.

In 2000, he recorded the soundtrack to Josef Fares' film Jalla! Jalla!, which earned him a Grammi nomination for best song with "If I Used to Love You". The album Morning Train (2001), which features that single, went gold and reached a broad audience. Since then, he has released Meeting at the Building (2003) and Dreamers and Fools (2005) on Warner Music, and on his own label Dextra Music: Somebody on Your Side (2007), Rebound (2009), Telescope (2012), Common Ground (2016), Punch Of Love (2019), and Sörgårdens Tak (2021). On Common Ground and Punch Of Love, Lemma collaborates with reggae group Hot This Year Band in two collections of classically-sounding roots reggae.

In 2016, he set poems by poet Karin Boye to music on the album Stjärnornas Tröst, produced by Fredrik Jonsson - a work that was later also staged as a theatre performance. In 2021, his first collection of self-written songs in Swedish, Sörgårdens Tak, was released. Most recently, in 2023, he released Addis - a critically acclaimed collaboration with prominent musicians in Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa, both traditional and jazz musicians.

Venue: Gunnebo Kaffehus och Krog.
