Isabelle Demers: Organ Music Then and Now
Sun, 11 Oct 2026 · 18:00 — 20:00
Göteborgs Konserthus, Gothenburg
The concert centres on Clara Schumann and Johannes Brahms - two composers united by admiration but never by each other. We hear organ variations by both, performed by organist Isabelle Demers.
Before the interval, the focus turns to pioneering women in the organ world. Among them is Rachel Laurin, the Canadian composer who died in 2023, and Sara Wenneberg-Reuter, a composer and organist active in Stockholm a century ago. Wenneberg-Reuter is in particular focus at Gothenburg's International Organ Festival this year.
Canadian organist Isabelle Demers is known for playing from memory and has a technique that has made her a sought-after concert organist in the USA and Canada.
