Nadim - My Journey from Refugee to Swedish Police Officer — Göteborgs Stadsteater, Gothenburg

There is a thin line between lying on the ground and being the one who stands up.

Nadim Ghazale was seven years old when he fled the war in Lebanon with his mother and brother. Thirty years later, he is a police officer in his new country - but still struggles to fit in.

In this play, written by Lisa Lindén, we follow his winding path of integration: from fleeing to Sweden to cultural clashes and the painful points of in-betweenness. Sometimes accepted as Swedish, at other times judged solely by appearance and background. Nadim wants to be one of us, seen as anyone else - but his name and skin colour cannot be erased, and what he tries to leave behind has shaped who he is.

Post-show discussion! Stay in the salon on Friday, September 4 for a conversation with the ensemble. It begins approximately ten minutes after the performance ends and lasts 30-40 minutes.
