Destroy This Play - Premiere!
Bagarmossens Folkets hus, Stockholm
What if everyone around you were just actors and you yourself were playing the lead role without knowing it? When this thought takes hold of Sam, the world becomes hard to see as it was before. At home, life goes on with its usual lines, at school the tough crowd rules, and everywhere people seem to follow a secret script that Sam has never seen. Then one day the Play itself starts talking - and reveals that everything is predetermined: the roles, the lines, the costumes. But it also gives Sam a choice: play along or tear the whole story apart.
Destroy This Play begins as traditional theatre, but the form soon breaks down into joyful chaos where nothing is sacred. The adult world's truths, rules and expectations are twisted and turned in a wild metatheater game around the question: what happens if you take control of your own story?
The play is written and directed by Emil Nilsson-Mäki, founder of Skuggteatern in Umeå. His previous productions - including Gargantua, I am not a girl and Lyssnaren - have been selected for festivals such as Bibu and Scenkonstbiennalen. Performance length: 50 min.
Cast: Josse Matsson, Magdi Saleh, Joséphine Wistedt. Set and costume design: Hanna Cecilia W Lindkvist. Sound design: Anna Haglund. Mask design: Matilda Bragner. Dramaturge: Jani Lohikari. A co-production with Örebro Teater.
