Svante Söderqvist - THE ROCKET

The Rocket brings together the Svante Söderqvist Trio - featuring pianist Adam Forkelid and drummer Calle Rasmusson - with Swedish-Estonian accordionist and sound explorer Tuulikki Bartosik. The project emerged from the trio's work following their debut album Arrival (2020), as they sought new sonic landscapes, with a shared love of Swedish folk music forming the foundation of their collaboration.

Svante Söderqvist contributes classically-influenced jazz where double bass and cello take centre stage, sometimes enhanced by wordless vocals. Bartosik adds her own layer of sound through expressive accordion playing with subtle electronic effects - a natural fifth voice in the acoustic setting.

On meeting the trio, Tuulikki Bartosik reflects: "When I first heard Svante's trio live, I was struck by their incredible musicality, tight interplay and above all the warm sound that went straight to the heart. It reminded me of my own musical journey - always curious, always moving forward."
