Big Bang

The play Big Bang! centres on Bang, a journalist and pacifist who spent decades at the heart of history's great events - from the 1936 Berlin Olympics and the Spanish Civil War to meetings with Gandhi and Elin Wägner. The story begins in 1956, when Bang sits imprisoned on Långholmen after refusing civil defence, then moves backward through her life via flashbacks from 1928 onward.

The piece is playful and humorous yet unflinching about the gravity of war and injustice, drawing lines to the present day. The script is written by Johanna Wilson and Anna Littorin, who also perform in the production. Direction: Emma Peters. Music: Leif Jordansson. Producer: Happening Kultur.
