The planet Solaris orbits two suns and is covered by a slowly flowing ocean that appears to be a single living organism. Scientists have studied it for decades without finding answers - and strange things happen to those who try to understand it.

When psychologist Kris Kelvin arrives at the space station above Solaris' surface, the atmosphere is tense and confused. Of the three crew members, only two are alive, and they are hiding strange guests aboard - humanoid beings created from their most intimate memories. Kelvin too receives a visitor: one night his dead wife Harey sits beside him on the bed. An impossible love story unfolds in a place where the boundary between reality and fantasy blurs.

The production is based on Stanisław Lem's novel of the same name from 1962 - a thriller, love story, and scientific satire about humanity's unwillingness and inability to encounter the incomprehensible. The novel was previously adapted into film by Andrei Tarkovsky (1972) and by Steven Soderbergh with George Clooney in the lead role (2002).

In dramatist Annika Nyman's newly written play, directed by Gustav Englund, Solaris becomes a relationship drama about the will to live, the right to love, and the question of what humanity truly is. Behind the production stands the stage art collective K.Polyfon, which also includes lighting designer Mira Svanberg, sound designer Niclas Anderstedt Lindgren, and set designer Annika Tosti. The collective has previously created productions such as Hilda by Marie NDiaye (Gothenburg City Theatre, 2024), I ett hus vid skogens slut (Turteatern, 2023), and Människor slukar allt de älskar (Kulturhuset stadsteatern, 2022).
